Morocco
The Moroccan national football team is the national football team of the North African state of Morocco.
It is one of the most successful teams on the African continent. The Moroccans won the 1976 African Football Championship with Romanian coach Virgil Mărdărescu and were only beaten by Tunisia in the 2004 final. The team has participated in five World Cups, playing against the German team twice. Their best result came in 1986, when they reached the last 16. In doing so, the Moroccan national team became the first African team to win a group at a World Cup, ahead of England, Poland and Portugal. The "Lions of the Atlas" also played strongly at the 1998 World Cup in France, but were unlucky to fail in the preliminary round. They were also the second African team ever to qualify for a World Cup finals (1970).
